Short summary
A sub-meter high-resolution multi-channel seismic imaging offshore Israel reveals that marine fault slip rates are significantly higher than previously assumed. Our records suggest repeated accelerations correlated with glacial-interglacial transitions, indicating significant slip episodes that actively reshape the seafloor. As these events remained undetected in lower-resolution surveys, current methodologies likely underestimate the seismic hazards posed to marine infrastructure.
