Dear Prof. Margherita Maggioni,
I asked one of the reviewers of the original submission to read the revised version. He was satisfied from the revision and recommended on publication subjected to two points:
1. the authors note that they `have realized from previous analysis how the time of evolution of the snow depth for the study site is similar to what measured at Weissmatten´. It would be very useful if this information could be included also in the manuscript (at appropriate position).

2. according to the authors response they have added a sentence about the unrealistic values from VLWC in the manuscript. It would be very useful if this information could be included also in the caption of Fig. 6.
